For Asuna, here is my opinion
..in Heathcliff final blow, Asuna blocked it even thought she is paralyzed (even Heathcliff didn't expect that she were be able to move due to paralysis effect) - in my opinion Heathcliff think that what Asuna did is like committing suicide since if she didn't blocked that blow Kirito will die and if that happened she will tried to kill herself. so i think here's where Kirito and Heathcliff pact goes that's why Asuna didn't died.
let just say Asuna was warped out in game and the killing process of her nerve gear in real world was postponed for a while

For Kirito, here is my opinion
i don't know how Kirito was able to came back/ returned in game and hit Heathcliff even though his hp already dropped to 0 and started disappearing, or maybe because of his strong will and determination to avenge Asuna.? even though the duel is draw i think Heathcliff didn't mind it because Kirito was able to defeat him too and since he defeated Heathcliff while his avatar is disappearing, the killing process of his nerve gear completely stop and same goes for Asuna while she was out of game.

woaaah.. you gave me another good point and idea.
i watched again the episode 14 just now and yeah it is shown there as "Changed into Immortal Object" i thought it was "Changed Into Mortal Object" for Heathcliff status (i misread it xD). so its for Asuna.. well here's another idea i think, Heathcliff can't kill/delete those immortal object/player by attacking them in game but by deleting them manually in console to delete/kill those who have immortal status like what happened to Yui (which didn't happened because Kirito stop the deletion process using gm account in console).


well if im right that Heathcliff can't kill/delete another Immortal Object by just attacking Player or NPC in game, another question/mystery is why Asuna hp dropped to 0 even though she have Immortal status? as you can see those hp of who have Immortal status never dropped in yellow zone because they were protected by system (barrier/wall)
