[Tag Tutorial] Space Themed
Sat May 11, 2013 5:45 pm
It's been a while since I've made a tutorial on graphics so sorry if this * but at least I want to share :P
Also sorry if there's a grammar mistake. I don't know how to explain these kind of things in Filipino.
Something like this is the one that we will be making.
So, let's get started.
First, open your Photoshop and make a new canvas with a size of 400x170 (You can change it whatever you like. I just choose this because of the render I'm using and the smaller the canvas, the easier to fill it in and work on it.)
Next is add a C4D preferably with a background but if it doesn't have just add a layer below it and fill it with black color. (For those who don't know, C4D is a 3d model made from program called C4D, if I remembered right. It's used to add effects to your work. Correct me if I'm wrong.)
You can also change it's color through Hue and Saturation.
This is mine.
This time add some bubble C4D. Like C4D, this is to add effects on your work. The difference is it's bubble(duh?). You can use this for adding your light source which is important.
Gonna like something like this.
Next is add your render(Image without background or image with transparent background, for those who don't know.)This is the render I used. I advice that don't add your render, which is our focal point to center. Add it by following the Rules of Thirds. It'll help us to make our work good. It's like in the photography. Something like this. http://digital-photography-school.com/wp-content/images/200605022117.jpg <-- Click.
This is mine.
Then add a C4D without background above the render's layer. We'll gonna work with it later. But atleast, leave the render visible in big area.
Something like this
Now pick the brush tool and use the soft brushes. Use it to emphasize where the light is coming from. And of course, above the render's layer for blending it to the surrounding.
Like this.
This is somewhat tricky. And is optional. You can add text or not. But if you want to add you should add it near the focal point(your render) so it wouldn't distract the focal point. You can design it whatever you want but the styles must blend with the whole work. Sames goes for the font color.
This is the result for me.
Next add another Bubble C4D with a color that will compliment the color of the first bubble C4D or the color of the whole work.
My result.
Next is add gradient maps for blending all of the stuffs. Since We're working in different colors and canvas, I wouldn't post my settings.
Adding gradient maps is tricky for the reason is you'll be changing the blending option many times and differently each maps. (Mainly Soft Light, overlay, screen, etc.)
After adding 3 gradient maps my work ended up something like this.
Next, create a new layer and click image then apply image. Then Filter > Other > High Pass...
then set the blending option to Soft Light.
It'll sharpen our work a bit for better result.
Last part is new layer > image > apply image. Then pick the blur tool. Blur the things that looks near and too far. Then Sharpen Tool for sharpening the focal for a bit. For my work I'm gonna show you how I did it.
Red Circles = Blur Tool
Blue Circles = Sharpen Tool
And that's all! Thanks for reading!.
Also, no ripping.
Even it's not so good :)
Also, if you had criticism, just tell me. You can just ask me if you had problems.

Let me ask first, where do you download it? If it's on google, change what you chose without those watermarks and don't forget to save the image don't copy if it's png because there's a chance that this png doesn't have a background so it'll be easier to use. Next, if it's in deviantart, be sure that you downloaded is a pack or zip file or rar.
