Re: Gaming News
Fri Jun 28, 2013 9:38 pm
here's one news (probably this was released last half of June, but fans of Square Enix Games should read this.)
Square Enix has released a new gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy XV—formerly known as Versus XIII—that showcases the title’s action-oriented combat (and Noctis’ rampant teleportation).
Originally in development as a Tetsuya Nomura-directed companion title to Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XV deviates from the traditional turn-based battle systems that have come to define the Final Fantasy franchise by fully embracing action-RPG elements born out of Nomura’s directorial debut, Kingdom Hearts. Nomura also helps to ground the franchise in reality by focusing on interpersonal, emotional, and geopolitical issues. He has also opted for an aesthetic more reminiscent of the modern age (architecturally, technologically, et cetera).
And after the nightmare that was Final Fantasy XIII, XV is probably Square Enix’s last attempt to keep this once die-hard Final Fantasy fan interested in the franchise.
Final Fantasy XV will debut first on PlayStation 4 sometime 2014, with an Xbox One version to follow.
During their own press conference, Square Enix revealed that the long-awaited third installment of Kingdom Hearts proper will be coming to the XBox One as well as PS4.
There was no mention of whether Kingdom Hearts III would get a timed exclusive release on the PlayStation 4 first—as is the case with Final Fantasy XV—or whether it would launch simultaneously on both consoles. They also did not provided a release window for the title.
Kingdom Hearts III is being developed by the same Osaka-based team responsible for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX. The first two titles were developed by artist/director Tetsuya Nomura and his development team.
Update: When pressed about Kingdom Heart III‘s release, Square Enix offered a “no comment” concerning whether the title would see a simultaneous release on Xbox One and PS4 or a timed exclusive on the latter.
both stories by Chris Holzworth, Editorial Intern, EGMNow
The verdict: both will be released on new platforms: PS4 and Xbox One. Would Square make a bundle of KH3+FFXV+PS4/XboxOne+exclusive items? Probably.

Re: Gaming News

here's another news:
after this year's E3 (remember my news about FFXV and KH3? they're part of it), rumors spread like wildfire on who's the boss on next-gen game consoles. will it be Microsoft's Xbox One? or Sony's Playstation4? or Nintendo Wii U??
so the first to rule is the PS4, especially they blew of the first day of E3 and left the Microsoft out of the water. Yet Microsoft then announced the Xbox One, and proclaimed that their games for the masses. Still, it's Sony vs. Microsoft hysteria on the battle for game titles.
And there's Nintendo Wii U, who got on the disadvantage, since they released they're new system on E3's second day. But hey, they also have what it takes to join the hysteria, especially the significant game titles that they have on their belt (super mario and bayonetta).
So who will survive the war of consoles? Which title will reign, or rather, which will got the approval of the masses? Be ready to cast your opinions, 'cause the storm's brewing!

now for the game news:
Shuhei Yoshida says due to "large investment of resources" for online play, keeping service free would have been "absurd."
Sony has explained why a PlayStation Plus subscription will be required to play PlayStation 4 titles online. In the latest issue of Famitsu (translated by Kotaku), Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida said that it would have been "absurd" to keep the service free, considering the "large investment of resources" Sony has made for online infrastructure.
-by Eddie Makuch, News Editor, Gamespot Asia
The verdict: guess you really have to pay to play online through a console huh? Anyways, PS3 is still kickin, but with the PS4 and next-gen consoles to launch this coming holiday, maybe Sony has to decide on its next move.

here's my game news of the day:
Atlus Parent Company Announces Bankruptcy, Puts Publisher in Peril
Publisher Atlus is facing sale or serious restricting following parent company Index’s filing for bankruptcy, CNET Japan reports.
Index owes debts of ¥24.5 billion—approximately $224 million—according to CNET. Their report also indicated that company president Ochiai Yoshimi might tender his resignation.
Atlus is described as the most desirable part of of Index’s business. The company is seeking a sponsor for the division in order to prevent damages to Atlus’ value.
EGM has reached out to Atlus for comment. As always, expect more on this story as it develops.
Update: EGM was able to get an official statement from Atlus president and CEO Naoto Hiraoka:
“Currently, Index Digital Media, Inc. and the ATLUS brand are unaffected by the Index Corporation proceedings in Japan. We’re carrying on day-to-day activities, business as usual. Shin Megami Tensei IV and Dragon’s Crown are still releasing on July 16 and August 6 respectively, and we’re licensing and publishing third-party titles such as R.I.P.D: The Game and Daylight. We want to thank all of our fans for their outpouring of support.”
Source: NeoGAF

the Verdict: ahh yes, the dillema of a gaming company. especially if the games that company is selling is running low. guess they didn't really prepared on this. just hope that Atlus survives this crisis or else..

About . Wii U
The Wii U /ˌwiː ˈjuː/ is a video game console from Nintendo and the successor to the Wii. The system was released on November 18, 2012, in North America; November 30, 2012, in the PAL regions; and on December 8, 2012, in Japan. It is the first entry in the eighth generation of video game home consoles, and will compete with Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One.
The Wii U is the first Nintendo console to support high-definition graphics, capable of producing video output up to 1080p, and has 2 GB of RAM with half dedicated to the console's operating system. The console was released in two versions: a "Basic" white-colored version with 8 GB of internal Flash storage; and a "Deluxe"/"Premium" black-colored version with 32 GB of Flash storage. The Deluxe package additionally includes stands for the console and for the GamePad, a charging dock for the GamePad, and a pack-in game. An HDMI cable is included with both versions. The Wii U's primary controller is the Wii U GamePad, which features an embedded touchscreen. The touchscreen is used to supplement the main gameplay shown on the television or, with games supporting Off TV Play, can allow the player to continue playing games by displaying the main gameplay even when the television is off. In addition to the Wii U GamePad, a more traditional controller, called the Wii U Pro Controller, may be used.

and about the Atlus bankruptcy, this will lead to re-branding of their company or merging to other company.
Today's news, Square Enix has announced pre-order incentives for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, including DLC that'll dress Lightning up as Final Fantasy VII's Cloud Strife.
The Soldier 1st Class outfit DLC comes replete with Cloud's infamous Buster Sword and Soldier's Band, as well as his victory fanfare and finishing animation from the original game. Additionally, the company has teased that some of Cloud's abilities will also be unlock for Lightning to use, though these will be announced at a later time.
The other pre-order pack that's been announced is the Lightning Samurai Set, which includes three different costumes, each with their own abilities, along with the Shogun, Sohei Saviour and Flower of Battle Items.

Today's news in gaming industry:
Sony: Microsoft Reversal 'Better Late Than Never'
Microsoft finally "got the message," says Jack Tretton.
Microsoft finally "got the message," says Jack Tretton.
When Jack Tretton exited the Sony stage at E3 2013, he didn’t consider the PlayStation press conference the final blow against Microsoft. In an Up at Noon interview with IGN, Tretton says “it was day one of a ten-year battle.”
Tretton explained that Sony went into E3 blind, unsure of where its price would stack up against Xbox One. “You don’t know how you’re going to be positioned against your competition, and you can’t spend a lot of time being an armchair quarterback. You’ve got to execute that vision, and we felt good about it regardless of where our competition came in.” Tretton continued, “And I think lower is better than high. We learned that with PlayStation 3.”
Sony did not, Tretton says, tailor its E3 press conference around Microsoft’s announcements, or change anything as a result. “A multi-billion, publicly traded corporation? Those decisions were made months and months and months in advance,” he said.
When asked about Microsoft’s response to criticism of its online policies -- which aligned Xbox One’s features closer to PlayStation 4 -- Tretton stated, “We spent 5 years listening to consumers, day in and day out. So, better late than never, I guess they got the message.”

yep you're right with that. anyways, one solution to this is if an another company will handle the job on the game. Due to Atlus and Index's reputation, it will take time for them to find a partner, i guess
on the online gaming, maybe they're trying to merge consoles with computers
onlining is better on pc, i agree with that.
but some titles are only available on one platform, and sometimes are not available on PCs. the only way to share your scores or play online co-op is through internet connection. would be better if they can invent a console that can be also a computer, or a merge of console-computer, or ask the people on what they want.
and heck, that's one hell of a blow from sony to microsoft.
wonder how they'll respond to this
anyways, here's my news:
Assassin's Creed IV Will Expand Storytelling Techniques, Says Lead Writer
There are many ways to tell a story through videogames. Something Assassin’s Creed IV lead writer Darby McDevitt wanted this time around, however, was to make sure Black Flag‘s world would help influence and tell the story—beyond expected arcs about buried treasure, damsels in distress, and massive naval battles associated with pirates.
Talking to EGM, McDevitt explained how part of this more subtle form of storytelling through environments starts with the major hub cities.
“You know, our cities are very different. Our city designers have been given a mandate to make sure Kingston has its own flavor. Kingston was a British colony, and the British were probably the worst proponents of slavery at the time, so we’re going to have them come across as the most adamant proponents of slavery,” McDevitt tells EGM. “They were also the worst behaved, so Kingston has to feel more like a town built on slavery and sailors and plantations and things like that.
“Havana was controlled by the Spanish, and they were a lot more—I don’t want to say ‘nice,’ because there’s nothing nice about slavery—but they have a lot more rules in place about buying and selling slaves. It was much less common, so Havana feels different. It feels more Western European. Even the crowd flow is different, so you can tell stories on that scale.”
The cities in Black Flag only make up a small portion of the world you will explore, though. With some 75 uncharted locations in the game, there’s more than plenty of wilderness to explore and tame as well— within the main story.
“You can be wandering through a jungle and a tree has fallen over and there’s a dead body under it, and then it’s like, ‘Oh, what happened there?’ We’re trying to hit all of those levels, and I’ve found a lot of the little details have surprised me even as the writer,” explains McDevitt. “I think we’re putting a lot more care into that small detail of stripped environmental storytelling, and I hope that comes through to a much greater degree. So yeah, we’re trying to hit a broad sweep of storytelling through the entire world itself.”
Darby’s desire to change how the Assassin’s Creed series tells its stories doesn’t end with adding greater emphasis on environments servicing narrative. The writer also wants to see the ties between the past and the present featured more prominently—something he actively focused on while penning Black Flag.
“We designed the present story to kind of mirror Edward’s place in the story, too. I’ve always felt that the present day stories existed on different planes, you know,” says McDevitt. “Desmond had his thing going on, he was always going back into assassins’ memories to look for stuff, but the themes didn’t always match up. I did like that there was a nice father-son conflict in ACIII in the present and the past, so that was cool. For ACIV, we wanted keep a little bit of that going. But I can’t say any more than that.”
--by Rays Carsillo, EGMNow
the verdict: heep-heep-hooray for Assassin's Creed and its Fans out there.
guess sometimes storytelling is not that fixated on assassin games, since it especially pinpoints the story while you kill your target. i mean, you already understand the story by just playing it (and sometimes skipping cutscenes because you thought you already know what will happen next )
we'll just wait for its development and release in the next-gen games.

okey, so Titanfall is trending (better save up to play this one and to buy the console)
here's mine for the day:
Warrior’s Lair on PS3 and Vita Has Been Cancelled
The cross-play game previously known as Ruin is officially no more.
Sad news, PlayStation gamers: today, IGN can confirm that the eagerly-anticipated (but long-in-limbo) PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita game Warrior’s Lair has been cancelled.
"Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm that Warrior’s Lair for PS Vita is no longer in development," a Sony representative told us. "We apologize to those who pre-ordered the title and ask that they contact their retailer directly to cancel their pre-sale."
The representative went on to say that, "The line-up of PS Vita first-party and third-party content remains strong with more than 85 titles scheduled to launch for the system by the end of 2013 including Killzone: Mercenary, Tearaway, Doki Doki Universe, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, Flower, The Walking Dead, and more."
Question marks have surrounded Warrior’s Lair – previously known as Ruin – for quite some time. Idol Minds was the developer originally behind the project, but with rumors swirling that the studio had closed up, Sony San Diego was supposed to finish the game back in early 2012. When the game never showed up at E3 2012, it was assumed the game was in some trouble.
Warrior’s Lair was a significant game for Sony back in 2011. The company showed it off on-stage at E3 2011, wowing PlayStation gamers with the then-mysterious cross-play feature now well-known between PS3 and PS Vita. IGN even had extensive hands-on time with the game in the months before PlayStation Vita launched in Japan in December of 2011.
So there you have it. Warrior’s Lair, Vita’s bite-sized answer to Diablo, is no more.
-by Colin Moriarty, IGN
the verdict: EEEEEEHHHHHH??!! Seriously, I wanted to try this once I had my hands on a PSVita.
what a predacriment, especially for those who waited for its release on the other console
oh well, guess I'll wait for an another action-rpg game for a portable console

hmm.. that seems to be the case. but hey! they might think of returning that game when the problem's solved. let's just wait
so here's my news for the day:
Final Fantasy VII Available on Steam
Final Fantasy VII is now available through Steam, replete with achievements, cloud saves and a character booster.
The updated PC version of the game, which appears to be the same one available slightly cheaper via the Square Enix store since last August, costs €12.99 / £9.99 / $11.99 / RM39.00 and can be downloaded now.
It's not the only piece of Final Fantasy VII news that has surfaced this week; On Tuesday, Square Enix announced pre-order incentives for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, including DLC that'll dress Lightning up as Cloud Strife.

the verdict: OOOOHHHHH YEEESSS!!
this suites for those who wanted to play FFVII on new graphics.
guess this is one of the plans of Square Enix on making the possible casting of Phoenix down of FFVII for new consoles.
