History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi
(Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi)
(Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi)
Sypnosis:
- Spoiler:
- The story is focused on Kenichi Shirahama, an average 15-year-old weakling, whose life turns to Hell with the appearance of the naive, beautiful, and strong transfer student, Miu Fūrinji. After Kenichi witnesses Miu's skills in martial arts, he joins the Ryōzanpaku dojo, the gathering place of those who are truly strong, which also happens to be Miu's home. After beating a karate student in a match, he is soon targeted by all the delinquents in the school. Since then, Kenichi's routine is divided between his hellish training with the masters of Ryōzanpaku, and his fights against the members of Ragnarok, a gang who views him as either a possible ally or an impending threat to their plans.

- Spoiler:
- This is one of the manga that is worth to read. Perhaps it's much more like your typical martial arts themed manga but I think it is much more. The story is about a talentless-always bullied boy who works with sheer hard work and will to develop his martial arts skill with the help of his masters who are the entitled "The Strongest" within the Ryozanpaku. It is one of the reason why he had to be stronger to suit his title "The Strongest Disciple" and to fight evil within martial arts world.
I admit that I've read this manga not so long ago and dropped it immediately when I saw an ecchi scene. But if you just go with the plot and not affected by it, you will like this and be fond of the characters as much as I do. And because it's shounen, I think boys would love reading it adding the fact that it is full of 'oppai' (boobs), action packed fights, and I myself learned martial arts just by reading it!
The art is good, character development, and cliffhangers. (I'm annoyed of cliffhangers!)
Romance is much the same as any other shounen type genres... But not so fast and not so dramatic, and readers will definitely want to add some of it... (By the way, in some shounen manga, I really hate the female protagonists because they're useless in some points or just useless big breasted girls, but here in HSDK, Miu Furinji is, yes, big breasted onna but she's strong and worth loving for! *Fan girl mode to my waifu ACTIVATED*)
Lastly, I cannot say more about it because I'm bias (since I've come to love this series) But if you love Action themed anime like Bleach, Kenshin, HOTD, and the likes... I think you just got your next manga to read.
