the answer is in your question already. Because romantic itself means displaying, expressive of, or conducive to love. Now, tell me, can you show your romance to your partner while watching your favorite b-ball game or drag racing? I guess not. It is because your feelings(excitement) and attention will be filled with the things you watch.
But, it still depends on your partner, if she enjoys watching those kind of things too. She might see it as a romantic date or whatever.

Chocolates from friends yung frequent kong natatanggap during Valentines Day-Tamporurut kasi pagdi binigyan XD.
I've never experienced giving someone chocolates during Valentines day but when I was in elementary I remember a time when I gave my crush a letter >/////< di ko alam kung ano ang nakain ko nun at iniabot ko sa kanya dapat sa akin lang yun eh . >___< . hehe
