Hatsune Miku Youtube Deletion
Mon Apr 16, 2012 5:04 pm
Okay, so I guess the bunch of you know the whole Hatsune Miku issue where her videos are being deleted all over youtube.
For those who don't know, here's the story:
Hatsune Miku was chosen as the one who'll sing at the opening ceremonies for the 2012 London Olympics. Apparently, there was a poll and Miku was the top requested idol with Super Junior, Big Bang, Shinee, Girls Generation, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga as runner ups. A lot of fans from the losing idols were disappointed because how could a virtual singer win? She's just computer made... a non-human not exhibiting true talent. Is this the start of computer domination?
A lot of issues circulated throughout the web and certain protests arose. But we should all understand that not all people will understand Vocaloid and why do other people like it.
The youtube deletion was started by an angry K-POP fan falsely named as Junichi Sasa. That person started reporting several Hatsune Miku PVs and such as copyright infringement and as a result, uploaders with many songs that were taken down have had their accounts closed by YouTube’s three-strikes system that was designed to discourage repeat offenders.
What is kinda baffling me is that people keep on blaming KPOP or other KPOP fans. We are all free to express our opinions and dislikes, but we have to analyze the entire situation. Yes some people may dislike the things we are passionate about and that is normal. But never ever disrespect other fandoms.
At first I didn't think it was a big deal since it will only be deleted on Youtube and Vocaloid will still be available at NicoNicoDouga and other sites. But I have come to realize that Youtube has become the main place for the whole world to experience Vocaloid, and learn for it first hand. Crypton has officially acknowledged YouTube by basing MIKUBOOK, their social networking project, on YouTube as well as opening their own Miku channel. Even producers such as 40mP and ZANEEDS have official Youtube channels that they post new songs to in addition to NicoNicoDouga.
Well, what is your take on this?

Apparently, this is already OLD news which just happened to reach or spread to the Philippines lately.

After observing the community for a while after the incident back in February, I am appalled to find that somehow people are STILL talking about this. I have absolutely no idea why, and it’s also nothing short of disappointing.
Basically, here’s what you SHOULD be spreading around. The problem with video deletions had been solved by Google and Crypton over two months ago, and they even confirmed that the Koreans had nothing to do with it. Oh, and those “Justin Bieber is jealous” jokes aren’t funny. The videos stopped disappearing a long time ago, yet people are still spreading it for some reason.
This leads me to believe that the problem is stemming from all of the new fans who have no idea that the situation was handled a long time ago. So we as a community need to spread the news that there is no longer a problem. Crypton is a powerful company with many powerful partners (such as Google), and they’re perfectly capable of taking care of themselves. They don’t need an army. As fans, we don’t need to do anything more than observe from the sidelines.
Part of this problem stems way back from the TopTens voting incident, when Miku was removed from the list. Long story short, I was the one who convinced the admins to add her back to the page. You can read more about that in the description of the video I posted here: youtu[dot]be/m1Xc5kdiTeo
Because of my actions, she was able to achieve rank #1. People then assumed the Koreans were responsible for the video deletions because their K-Pop idols lost their spot to Hatsune Miku. This, of course, is false. People need to stop spreading this idea around.
So please do your part and help spread this news around so people can stop already. Thank you.
