What if the sun suddenly DISAPPEARED?
Sat Jul 13, 2013 6:13 pm
If the sun were to magically be removed from the solar system, what would happen to us?
Well, we would be ignorant and clueless for the first eight minutes of the sun's disappearance, since because it takes light from the sun eight minutes and twenty seconds to reach the Earth. Also, the sun's gravitational pull also takes the same time to reach the Earth. So, for a little over eight minutes after the sun disappeared, all will seem quite normally.
At that moment when we actually see the sun disappear from the sky, we will also lose its gravitational influence, and Earth would fly out into space at about 29.8 km/sec.
Of course, mass panic and hysteria would ensue while we're hurtling through space. The only source of light would be the distant stars and planets.
Photosynthesis, which covers about 99% of the Earth's total activity, would cease. Therefore, plant life would disappear within days.
By the end of the first week of the sun's disappearance, the Earth's temperature would be freezing. One year after that, the Earth's surface would be about -73 degrees Celsius. Although, the Earth's geothermal supply of heat from certain areas can still sustain the remnants of Earth's inhabitants.

All the said information are all facts. I have seen this article about Sun's disappearance will be an imminent danger to Earth. Life will cease if it does. We will float on space with nowhere to go.

Sunlight is one of the most vital abiotic factors on Earth after all. As you have said, sunlight is needed in photosynthesis and photosynthesis of plants and phytoplanktons (for aquatic ecosystems) sustain the life of Earth. Without photosynthesis, there would be no oxygen supply for us to inhale (we all know that we can't live without oxygen), for oxygen is a byproduct of photosynthesis. Without oxygen, oxygen-carbon dioxide cycle will cease and that would be for sure the end of the life on Earth.
I also think we would not be able to witness the -73 degrees Celsius version of Earth. Once we pleasured ourselves with the last atoms of oxygen hovering in the air and if the carbon-oxygen cycle was already terminated, we would immediately drop on where we stand, wailing in agony, veins bursting and visible through our skin gasping for air, gasping for life.

There might be a very very very low chance but it's not 0, I can tell you that.

dont worry we got it covered.
we will be a class 1 civilization in the next 100 years,
it means we could control earths resources at its maximum. we could also transfer earth to another star.

Sun is really important to us living persons.
So I think if the sun suddenly disappeard, that would give us so much bad effects on us.

I think that it wouldn't be our problem but of the future generations. Who knows? Maybe by the time the sun disappears, there might not be any people on earth or even in space. :3
