Re: Games Recommendation
Tue Jul 16, 2013 9:17 pm
Name of Game: Tales of the Abyss
Genre of Game: RPG
Console to be used: PS2, 3DS
Description of the Game:
(Taken from Wikipedia)
Tales of the Abyss is a role-playing video game developed by Namco Tales Studio as the eighth main title in their Tales series. Originally released for the PlayStation 2, the game was published by Namco in Japan in December 2005, and Namco Bandai Games in North America in October 2006. It's development team included director Yoshito Higuchi, producer Makoto Yoshizumi, and character artist Kōsuke Fujishima. The game features music by series composers Motoi Sakuraba and Shinji Tamura, and includes the opening theme song "Karma" by Bump of Chicken. Namco has given Tales of the Abyss the characteristic genre name To Know the Meaning of One's Birth RPG. A port for the Nintendo 3DS handheld was released in Japan in June 2011, with North American and European English versions following in November 2011 and February 2012, respectively.
Taking place in a fantasy world, the story focuses on Luke fon Fabre, a young swordsman whose pampered life turns upside down when he unwittingly becomes the target of a military-religious organization known as the Order of Lorelei, who believe him to be the key to an ancient prophesy. Together with his companions, Luke attempts to discover the truth and significance of his own birth, as well as unravel the mystery of The Score, the prophesy that has bound humanity's actions for thousands of years.
Reviews for both its original console and handheld releases were mostly positive, with critics praising the title's combat system yet remarking that the game's plot had a tendency to move slowly and adhered to many stock Japanese role-playing game conventions. The PlayStation 2 version would sell approximately 734,000 copies worldwide. A 26-episode anime adaptation by Sunrise was also produced, which first aired in Japan on MBS between October 2006 and March 2009.
My take on the Game:
The best "Tales of" game in my opinion. The high point of this game for me are the characters and the character development. I don't want to spoil anything but the main hero had one of the best character developments in my opinion. If you have played a Tales game before then you know the battle system is not in the traditional turn based format but a faster action type format. Abyss took it one step higher and was the first Tales game to introduce the "Free Run" so players can freely maneuver in battle. Oh and this game also has a badass opening and it offers multiplayer during battle so I really cannot oversell this enough. One of the great RPGs in the PS2 for sure. If you have a working PS2 emulator, give this one a try. As an avid RPG fan, this game did not disappoint.
P.S.
It is recommended to watch the anime after finishing the game because most of the places aren't going to make sense unless you are familiar with the game.

le me recommend:
Prototype
Genre: Action, Sci-fi
Platforms: PS3, Xbox 360, PC
The story so far: New York City. A genetic experiment was done on a man named Alex Mercer, and upon his waking, lost all his memories yet have no idea on why he gained supernatural powers. As he continues his search, the genetic experiment spread throughout the city, causing a virus outbreak and alarming the military. Now, Alex must fight both the military and the infected in search of his memories and to find out the truth. One of the hit games of 2009, this game was developed by Activision (Call of Duty series) and Radical Entertainment (Scarface).
What can I say to this?: GTA gameplay + post-apocalypse setting + ala X-men powers? This one's worth play for hours. The game also utilizes points which lets you acquire more powers (eg. Area effect attacks, glide abilities, and lots more) so that you won't be wasted on just unlocking arsenals in the story. The story and missions are also well-made, making it fun. Plus, consuming someone to replenish your life? Nuff said, though its not a bit humanitarian.

le me recommend again:
Prototype 2
Genre: Action, Sci-fi
Platforms: PS3, Xbox360, PC
The Story So Far: New York Zero. Two years later after the events on the first Prototype game, New York is divided into three zones: the Green Zone (Safe), Yellow Zone (Quarantine), and Red Zone (outbreak-this is the map where all events on the first Prototype took place). On one encounter, Sgt. James Heller was infected by Alex Mercer, the man behind the first title. Being infected, Heller gains the same powers as Mercer obtained but on a new scale. Now, Heller traverses on the three zones to unlock the secrets that happened in the last two years and to kill Mercer, the man who killed his wife and abducted his daughter, and probably the cause why the Red Zone existed.
What can I say to this?: Another epic Prototype game. Though you'll suck at the beginning due to the new controls (though they'll be introduced later in the game), you'll also enjoy it the same as on the first Prototype game. Oh! Heller's powers are tad new than Mercer, so check it out (tendril powers, oh yeah!!) The graphics were also improved and smoothen, rhyming with the setting of the game.
Know why he want to kill his maker:

Re: Games Recommendation

Name of Game: Devil May Cry Series
Genre of Game: Action-Adventure, Hack and Slash
Console to be Used: PS2, PS3
Description of the Game:
(Taken from Wikipedia)
Devil May Cry is a series of five action-adventure hack and slash video games with a modern dark fantasy and gothic setting. The series was developed by Capcom and created by Hideki Kamiya. Originally intended to be a sequel in Capcom's Resident Evil series, Devil May Cry was such a radical departure from the series' style that it was developed into a new property entirely. The series centers on the main character Dante's goal of avenging his mother's murder by exterminating demons. The gameplay consists of heavy combat scenes in which the player must attempt to extend long chains of attacks while avoiding damage in order to exhibit stylized combat; this element along with time and the amount of items collected and used are taken under consideration when grading the player's performance.
The series has been a success with the first three games selling multiple million copies and being awarded the "Platinum Title" award by Capcom. The success of the video game series has led to the creation of comic books, novelizations, an anime series, guides, collectibles, publications, and a variety of action figures. A high-definition remaster of the three PlayStation 2 titles was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. The collection features trophies/achievements and high definition graphics.
During the 2010 edition of the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom revealed a new game, named DmC: Devil May Cry. The new game is developed by Ninja Theory and is a reboot of the series.
My Take on the Game:
Cool protagonists are often one of the main reasons certain games are popular and Devil May Cry is certainly one of those games. Enter Dante, the laid back gun popping sword swinging badass. The original story depicts Dante as half demon and half human who is out for vengeance after the death of his mother at the hands of demons, so it is your job to avenge while kicking ass at the same time. Devil May Cry is a fun hack and slash game that comes with tons of combos and smart lines with each installment so I suggest players who aren't familiar with the series to give this one a try. Plus Dante is like the exact opposite of Kratos, Kratos the more serious, no nonsense one and Dante the lazy, kick ass while trash-talking one so if you like an equally badass but funny lead, Devil May Cry is definitely a game to try.
Chronological order of Games:
Devil May Cry 3 - Devil May Cry - Devil May Cry 4 - Devil May Cry 2
Note:
DMC: Devil may cry is a reboot of the series and is set in a parallel universe so I did not include it in the timeline. Plus the original is infinitely cooler than the reboot

Based on the 3D supernatural action-adventure film, R.I.P.D., you and a partner will take up the holsters of two lawmen dispatched to the otherworld to protect and serve the living from an increasingly destructive array of souls who refuse to move peacefully to the other side.
Info: wrote:Top-notch teamwork and an arsenal of badass weapons are the keys to defeating your enemies and bringing order back to the world.
Key Features
Film Authenticity – Working directly with Universal, Old School received ongoing access to the movie materials so that players could experience a faithful adaptation of the unique world of R.I.P.D., including environments, enemies, weaponry, effects and humor from the film.
Partner with your Friends Online – Two-player online co-op allows wanna-be gunslingers to use teamwork as they battle their way through the game. Your enemies won’t have a chance against the right team strategy.

Unique In-Game Betting System – Co-op partners can put their in-game currency where their mouth is with a new feature that allows them to bet on who’s a better R.I.P.D. officer. Measured by which player can capture the most enemies, who can stay standing the longest, and other action-packed challenges, the virtual betting system allows players to always keep the stakes high.
Challenges Galore – Being an R.I.P.D. officer doesn’t mean blasting deados all the time. Random challenges will appear during each stage to allow players to test their mettle for extra gold pieces.

I have one:
The Disgaea Series! Dood!
Disgaea (魔界戦記ディスガイア Makai Senki Disugaia?, lit. "Hell Chronicles Disgaea") is a video game series of tactical role-playing games created and developed by Nippon Ichi. The series debuted in Japan on January 30, 2003, with Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, later re-released as Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness and Disgaea DS. One of Nippon Ichi's most popular franchises, it has branched off into both a manga and anime series. The Disgaea games take place in a fictional universe called the Netherworld and are known for their uncommon RPG elements, such as complex gameplay, extremely high maximum stats and humorous dialogue. Main characters in the series often include cynical, power-hungry antiheroes forced to fight alongside heroic foils, much to their disdain. The Disgaea series has sold 1.7 million games as of November 2011.

Need for Speed: Underground 2 provides several new features, such as a broader customization, new methods of selecting races, the "explore" mode (just driving around freely, like the Midnight Club series, in a large city known as "Bayview"). Underground 2 also introduces several SUVs, which could be customized as extensively as other Underground 2 vehicles and used to race against other SUV racers. Brooke Burke is the voice of Rachel Teller, the person who guides the player throughout the game.
On the Nintendo DS installment, users are able to design custom decals to adorn any vehicle in the game. The PlayStation Portable equivalent is Need for Speed: Underground Rivals.

le me recommend once again:
League of Legends
Genre: Massive Online Battle Arena (MOBA), Co-op strategy teamwork game
Platforms: PC
The Story So Far: Play as one of the champions, and team up with your teammates to destroy your opponent's Nexus, their base. Created by the makers of Defense of the Ancients (DotA) and developed by Riot Games, this game opened a new breed of DotA-like games.
What can I say to this?: A new breed of DotA is what I heard when I first say this. And heck, I didn't had a time getting pissed on this game (except for the internet connection). With its new gameplay but still inherits the other MOBA games, this game is worth sharing. No wonder many is getting hyped over this game.
Enlist and became Legendary:

I have another one :
The Starcraft Series Dood!
History:
StarCraft is a military science fiction real-time strategy video game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment and released for Microsoft Windows on March 31, 1998.[1] The game later spawned a franchise, and is the first game of the StarCraft series. A Mac OS version was released in 1999, and a Nintendo 64 adaptation co-developed with Mass Media was released on June 13, 2000.[2] Work on the game started shortly after Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness's release in 1995. StarCraft debuted at the 1996 E3, where it was unfavorably compared to Warcraft II; as a result, the project was entirely overhauled and then showcased to public in early 1997, receiving a far more positive response.
Set in a fictitious timeline during the Earth's 25th century, the game revolves around three species fighting for dominance in a distant part of the Milky Way galaxy known as the Koprulu Sector: the Terrans, humans exiled from Earth skilled at adapting to any situation; the Zerg, a race of insectoid aliens in pursuit of genetic perfection, obsessed with assimilating other races; and the Protoss, a humanoid species with advanced technology and psionic abilities, attempting to preserve their civilization and strict philosophical way of living from the Zerg.
Many of the industry's journalists have praised StarCraft as one of the best[3] and most important[4] video games of all time, and for having raised the bar for developing real-time strategy games.[5] With more than 11 million copies sold worldwide as of February 2009, StarCraft is one of the best-selling games for the personal computer.[6] The game has been praised for pioneering the use of unique factions in real-time strategy gameplay[7] and for a compelling story.[8] StarCraft's multiplayer is particularly popular in South Korea, where players and teams participate in professional competitions, earn sponsorships, and compete in televised tournaments.[9] StarCraft has had its storyline adapted and expanded through a series of novels, the expansion pack StarCraft: Brood War and two authorized add-ons. Over 12 years later, a sequel, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, was released in July 2010.

I have another one:
The Final Fantasy Series
Final Fantasy (ファイナルファンタジー Fainaru Fantajī?) is a media franchise created by Hironobu Sakaguchi, and is developed and owned by Square Enix (formerly Square). The franchise centers around a series of fantasy and science fantasy role-playing video games (RPGs), but includes motion pictures, anime, printed media, and other merchandise. The first game in the series, published in 1987, was conceived by Sakaguchi as his last-ditch effort in the game industry; the title was a success and spawned sequels. The video game series has since branched into other genres such as tactical role-playing, action role-playing, massively multiplayer online role-playing, racing, third-person shooter, fighting, and rhythm.
Although most Final Fantasy installments are stand-alone stories with different settings and main characters, they feature identical elements that define the franchise. Recurring elements include plot themes, character names, and game mechanics. Plots center on a group of heroes battling a great evil while exploring the characters' internal struggles and relationships. Character names are frequently derived from the history, languages, and mythologies of cultures worldwide.
The series has been commercially and critically successful; it is Square Enix's best selling video game franchise, with more than 100 million units sold, and one of the best-selling video game franchises. It was awarded a star on the Walk of Game in 2006, and holds seven Guinness World Records in the Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition 2008. The series is well known for its innovation, visuals, and music, such as the inclusion of full motion videos, photo-realistic character models, and orchestrated music by Nobuo Uematsu. Final Fantasy has been a driving force in the video game industry, and the series has affected Square Enix's business practices and its relationships with other video game developers. It has also introduced many features now common in role-playing video games and has been credited with helping to popularize console-based RPGs in markets outside Japan.
