Battle Royale

Battle Royale (バトル・ロワイアル Batoru Rowaiaru?) is a 2000 Japanese thriller film, adapted from the 1999 novel of the same name by Koushun Takami. It is the final film directed by Kinji Fukasaku, was written to screenplay by his son Kenta Fukasaku, and stars Takeshi Kitano. The film tells the story of Shuya Nanahara, a high-school student struggling with the death of his father, who is forced by the government to compete in a deadly game where the students must kill each other in order to win. The film aroused both domestic and international controversy and was either banned outright or deliberately excluded from distribution in several countries.

Agree this movie has a lot of fighting scenes compared to Hunger Game,(i was expected more fight scene but just got disappointed).

anyone of you read the novels first then watch the film? or watch the movie first then read the novel?

I have read the novel. The story's a bit different. I haven't read the manga [?] but I hear that's different too. I liked Battle Royale. I didn't like the second movie.

Personally, I like the book better. I have read it a couple of times, but the movie is also very nice especially with the selection of actors. Many of the actors in BR are now top actors in Japan.

The Novel is better...but it doesn't mean the movie sucks...both of them are good...
