What age did you first discover anime?

At what age did you first watch anime? how did you discover it?
why did you get hooked to it?

we all have different answers and different point of views on why we watch anime.

so i'll start.

I first watched anime when i was 6-7 years old. And that was in 1998.
Kalakasan ng GMA-7 Palabas nila eh Gundam Wing. Since then na hooked na ako.
at lagi kong sinusubaybayan. Mojacko, Slamdunk, Saber marrionete,Rayearth,
noon.

when we give more thought to what discover means, it's becoming aware of the meaning to our mind that it's an anime.

even tho i voted 4-6 years old since i think where the years i watched animes first, i never cared regardless whether i was watching was a cartoon or anime as long it's amusing to me.
i didn't got curious to what is it called or where it came from.
'cause i think for some strange reason i know right away that anime and cartoon aren't the same. but still i didn't care.

i'm bad at remembering things (forgetful person) and doesn't really give a sheet.
so i wasn't really taking this question seriously
and went ahead to answer the most appealing to what i have in mind as possible.

if we're talking about, what age did i first became aware of anime?, i roughly guess it's around 6-8 years old maybe?
i mean, GMA has this commercial i see always that says "GMA Anime Authority ASTIG". so maybe that gave me an idea at some point but my reaction was: "oh..meh."

also maybe around 12 where i got hooked to watching every single anime on Animax. well, i already have an idea around this point to what they're gonna show from the TV Station name itself.

i'm terribly humiliating myself right now.
how masochistic is that. lol
but i guess it's because i realized that i was in the gutter and need to get away or else my feelings will kill me.  XD

Yeah, I have nothing against people who voted 4-6 Anyway, It's their opinion. And you're right about " i never cared regardless whether i was watching was a cartoon or anime as long it's amusing to me. " It's not whether you know it or not, but it drew your attention and made you an Otaku like what you are now. Either you watched it when you were a Kid and regardless it was a cartoon or Anime, or you discovered Anime altogether, in the end, it's that you were happy and you enjoyed the show.

My comment is just a Side Note for the question, The title is misleading XD Anyway, let's just enjoy this great Art, Literature(well, even though it's not written LOL, but still there are novels :P) and Animation

I discovered anime when I was 11 or 12 maybe :3 pero ung anime na nagpa addict talaga sakin eh ung Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya.! haha.! I really love that show .relax then dun na umikot ung mundo ko sa anime :3

I discover Anime at the age of 7 and the very 1st anime I've watched is Azumanga Daioh,Next is Dragon Ball,Voltes 5..

well, i watched DBZ at the age 8 but by that i didn't know the difference between anime and cartoon. I can't seem to remember when I actually discover anime.

I discover it around 7 years old... :D

I was 7 when I found Sailormoon! that's the start of my addiction haha! <3

baka nga 3 yrs old pa lang eh nakanood na ako,(o kayo) ng anime. :D

voltes v, dragon ball, dragon ball z, flame of recca, digimon, yu yu hakusho, daimos, lupin III, zenki, ultraman, masked rider (yung black), cat's eye, sailor moon, speed racer, at madami pang iba. XD

4YO nanonood aq ng anpanman sa japan

7-9 yrs old! 4-6 kasi mga Cartoon network, Disney, Nickelodeon pa ako. Tapos nung nag 7+ yrs old ako, ayun! Pokemon, Naruto, DC, Slam dunk na. Hahaha!

I first discover Anime when I was a little child, maybe 4 or 5. it was my dad who influenced me. he loves watching Dragonball Z and Ghost Fighter. and since then, we've been watching Animes in tv together. I know, my dad is cool like that, I even watched Kuroko No Basketball with him. Then, I influenced my cousins and my little sister. And now, we were all in love with Animes. HOORAY!

I was 17 when it all started. My brother gave me a copy of Clannad and it really had me until the ending.

Since then, I watched anime series of different genres and been collecting figures now that I am working.

6 years old ako nun. naalala ko gabi gabi sa 7 iba2 ung anime. Dragonball.Ranma.Mosquiton,hell teacher nube,sorcerer hunter.monster rancher,trigun. yan ung mga naaalala ko. tapos nung nilipat na twing hapon eh,flame of recca,ghost fighter,gundam wing,fushigi yuugi,saka iba pa :)

I still remember the first animé that I watched was Voltes V. Channel 13 pa yun, linggo ng umaga. Tapos, parang kasunod ata nun Bioman, ta's kasabay yung Ultraman. How could I remember, I think mga 6 years old ata ako nun.

Nakikipag-away pa ako sa tatay ko nun pag may iba syang gustong panoorin.

8 years old...Crayon shinchan time, Voltes 5,daimos, kurochan,dbz,Digimon,pokemon times..
