Resident Evil, known in Japan as Biohazard is a media franchise owned by the video game company Capcom. It was created by Shinji Mikami as a survival horror video game series that was initiated with Resident Evil in 1996. Since then, the game series has branched out to include action games, and has sold 50 million units as of 30 June 2012.

My take on the game:

Zombies, Zombies and more Zombies. Zombies as far as the eye can see, some are slow, some are fast, some are poisonous and some are just annoying. But all of them have one thing in common. They want to eat your face off. Resident Evil is a series of games where you must survive zombie infested places as you try to put a stop to the company behind the zombie outbreaks, Umbrella. The first 3 installments really put the Survival in "Survival Horror" as there are very few ammunition provided throughout the game so you have to manage everything or you will run out of ammo and without ammo, you are royally screwed. To make matters worse, you need items just to save, yeah you can''t save if you don't have this item so you really have to plan everything. Now RE4 boldly altered the gameplay from the traditional RE format and IMO it was a huge success. You get more ammo in the game but it is balanced out with the sheer number of enemies you encounter so there is still the management factor. They changed the camera view to "over the shoulder" to allow more fluid movements so it took RE to a whole new level. 5 and 6 IMO didn't really do it's predecessors justice so I hope they go back to the drawing board and think long and hard about what worked and what didn't, and put those ideas into developing a good RE7 game.

If you still haven't played a single Resident Evil game, then you're simply missing out so I encourage you to try the game at least. If you like survival horror, you won't be disappointed.

Fatal Frame, known as Project Zero in Europe and Zero in Japan, is a survival horror video game series consisting of four installments, a hand-held spin-off, and a remake of the second game. The series' games were released for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and later for the Wii and Nintendo 3DS. The series plots deal with ghosts, exorcisms, and dark Shinto rituals.
Created by Tecmo, Fatal Frame is one of the most well-received survival horror games to date. It was a unique entry in the genre, as the player explores a mansion and takes photographs of ghosts in order to defeat them. The Fatal Frame series has since gained a reputation as one of the most distinctive in the genre, with the first game in the series credited as one of the best-written survival horror games ever made, by UGO Networks.

My take on the game:
Easily the scariest set of games I've ever played. All of the elements needed for a good scare are there; music, atmosphere, characters and story. Fatal Frame almost always drags you into the unholy past of whatever place you stumbled into (e.g. himuro mansion, lost village, manor of sleep) and forces you to participate in said rituals. The weapon of choice in these games is the Camera Obscura, a camera with powers of exorcism used to fight vengeful spirits. You must push through and solve the mysteries surrounding these places in order to lift the curse and prevent anymore victims. What sets this game above other games like Amnesia and Silent Hill in my opinion is the story itself. Those dark rituals performed in early Japan really are creepy and makes you wonder, "what the hell are they worshipping?" And the curses are twisted to say the least and literally offers no chance for escape. One example is fatal frame III. The curse takes effect when you sleep. How the hell are you gonna avoid that? But the stories are sad and great (and scary) at the same time so if you have the courage and interested in the story, Fatal Frame is indeed a game to try. All in all one of the best survival horrors I've played and this game proves that you don't always need action and guns to have a good horror game.
