You can't run your downloaded Japanese Visual Novel/Eroge without setting this up (err there are some VN/eroge that isn't required to set up their non-unicode to japanese such as katawa shoujo, clannad etc.)

here's a simple tut (and a beginner's guide) to those who are interested to read VN's and eroges.

FOR WINDOWS XP
Click Start > control Panel > Click Date, Time Language and Regional Options > Regional and Language Options > then click the advanced..
on the advanced tab you can see the "code page conversion tables" check Japanese then you will be needing your win xp disc (yeah the disc of the computer included on the package) > put that in and it will install the language pack you selected > click apply and restart your pc -end-

FOR WINDOWS 7
Click start > control panel > Clock, Language and Region > Region and Language
> Administrative Tab > Change system Locale > then choose Japan > restart your pc -end-

sorry for the svckish tut/explanation (im not REALLY good at it) but I hope this helps~ Let's all read VN~ \o/

How to set your system locale into japanese for Non-unicode Programs Empty Better solution

Well, another option is to use applocale. The thing is, sometimes it pops up with an error when you install it on some Operating Systems. Worry not! You can still install it :3 Copy the apploc.msi to C:/, then run an elevated Command Prompt (On the search bar, type cmd, then right click on Command Prompt and click on "Run as Administrator"). Then on the elevated command prompt, type C:/apploc.msi

That should do the trick xD
