The biggest problem most people had with the game to my knowledge is how they forced you to go in on very specific direction for most of the game. Even though technically in all FF's you have to follow a direct path, you were always allowed to wander around the world map and towns for extra items,experience or information about the world.
The summoning system was disappointing, being only able to have one specific summon designated to each character that all shared the same TP bar was just a joke. Not to mention they were virtually useless in the game in comparison to the other games where they are extremely powerful, useful, or serve purpose in the story,
Story wise it was slow and drawn out with many pointless one time characters thrown in and out. At the end of the game when you finally have an open map, the game forces you to run back and forth for meaningless rewards until finally you can advance. At which point the end of the game does the complete oppisite and rushes itself instead of explaining more of what was going on. This upset many due to Square's story telling stardards in RPGs.
The item creation system though deep was ultimately not satisfying. It took endless grinding to achieve the most powerful items. It did not help that these most powerful weapons were not needed to beat the game nor were most of the items you could upgrade.
Lastly though this example did not bother me as much as those listed above but did leave two generations of final fantasy fans disappointed. The lack of an actual moogle in the game besides the picture on the shop. There was no standard "Final Fantasy Victory Theme". The completely altered the names of the classes names Black mage -> Ravager. for example. Many international devoted fans did not like the original english theme song and wanted the original japanese.
This is from what I have gathered from many arguements on this subject by too many people. These were the most common reasons. Sorry for it being so long.

on GEB topic... i just did oroburos in less than 6 mins. kinda frustrating... hope meron pang mga monster(aragami) na malalakas. kasi sa MH best time ko dun(in most boss monsters) ay 15 mins. though sa MH solo ako at sa GEB nmn pede ka mgdala ng 3 NPC kya din siguro napabilis ang quest.

Zin's got a point. Syempre tignan mo din yung specs. High quality but cheaper the better.

@jose nasa difficulty 10 na ako pero ngfafarm muna ako ng oruburos para sa chaotic spark claw. at kahit isa wala akong nakuha! 
naka 5 missions na ako pero wala parin... try ko i'solo kasi ambilis mamatay bago ko palang ma'unbound ang parts.
fave weapon ko pala ay buster blade at long sword. pwede ka kasi mgcombo eh...
